Now cut out the rail foam using the edge markings we made earlier.

Get your vinyl and lay it down on the floor with good side of the vinyl facing down.  Lay the rail over the vinyl.  Be careful here as the width of the vinyl doesn't allow for any slip ups as it is so narrow, so make sure your rail is centred on the vinyl.

As with the velveteen, begin to staple the vinyl to the rail, beginning at the centre of one of the long sides, then proceed to the opposite long side and repeat.  Maintain tension on the vinyl at all times in order to get a wrinkle free finish.  Then proceed to staple the arcs.  Always bunch the vinyl towards the last staple.

Here is the semi finished rail.

Now we need to cut out the centre section of the vinyl and finish the stapling of the vinyl to the rail.  Make a 4" drawing on the inside of the rail, measure the 4" from the foam and not the wood.  At the arcs, draw a lot of pizza slices.  Make sure you don't cut to close to the edge, otherwise the cuts will be visible when we flip the rail over.

Cut out the centre section of the vinyl and pizza slices at the arcs.

Staple the vinyl to the rail as described in the above steps.  When you have finished stapling the vinyl to the rail, trim off any excess vinyl near the staple line.

Here is the completed padded rail.  WRINKLE FREE.

Now get your base board (bad board B) from the earlier steps and secure your racetrack to the base board with the 8g X 25mm wood screws.  Lay a cotton sheet / blanket on the floor and place your racetrack on it with the stained side down (to prevent scratches to the racetrack).  Centre your base board over the centre of the racetrack and secure with enough wood screws to hold it firmly in place.  Be VERY CAREFUL not to drill all the way through your racetrack when drilling the pilot screw holes.

Now get your centre section velveteen playing board and and lay it with the velveteen playing surface facing down on the cotton sheet / blanket.  Get your racetrack and fit the playing board into the racetrack.  Push down firmly on the boards and secure with enough wood screws to hold it firmly in place.
