Cut out the bottom rail. |
This is what the bottom rail should look like. Put it aside when finished. |
Get your yardstick out again. We are now going to mark our racetrack. I wanted a 6" rack as the poker chips I use are 40mm in diamater and I wanted to fit 3 columns of poker chips on my racetrack. The math for the racetrack is :- 6" (racetrack) + 2.5" (top rail overhang) + 0.5" (foam padding on rail) = 9". Thus 24" - 9" - 1.5" (bottom rail) = 13.5" to be marked on the yardstick to give a 6" exposed racetrack. Place the marking pen in the 13.5" hole and draw your arcs at both end of the board. |
After you have drawn your arcs, cover your lines with masking tape as this is going to bet the most important cut you are going to make. Any stuff ups here are going to be seen on the racetrack - so BE CAREFULL and GO SLOW on the cut. Drill a 1/4" hole on the inside of the arc as you did above in order to get your jigsaw blade through. Begin cutting. |
Cut your racetrack out. |
When you are finished cutting, peel your tape off WITH THE GRAIN as pulling it off any other way will cause the plywood to splinter. |
What's left is the centre section of the poker table, the playing surface. Put this aside as we will put the high density, closed cell 1/4" thick foam and velveteen on it later. |
Now get your bad B board and yardstick. We now want a 4" top rail, so on your yardstick measure back from the 600mm (24") mark 4" to get 20". Now put your marking pen in the 20" hole and draw your arcs on both ends of the board. Drill a 1/4" hole on the inside of your arc and cut out the top rail. |
This is what your top rail should look like. |
What's left is the base board on which everything will be attached to, including the table legs. |
